Reduced staff now working in office – May 26th, 2020 letter
A Message from the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce |
Dear Chamber of Commerce Members and Friends: As you know, on Friday, May 22, North Carolina’s Phase 2 reopening took effect. A complete overview and guidelines are on the Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.nccoastchamber.com. We applaud the governor for allowing more businesses to reopen just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. I know I’ve missed eating at some of our favorite restaurants and I’ve certainly missed getting a haircut. But we also urge caution, and are asking that you don’t let your guard down. While the number of positive cases of the virus in our county has been low, the number of cases statewide continues to go up. As a tourism-driven economy, we will have visitors from all over the country, including areas considered to be virus hotspots. Since March, the entire staff of the Chamber of Commerce has been working at home. We will open our office on Tuesday, May 26, on a limited basis. We will have reduced staff in the office Monday-Friday, and we will be meeting with the public by appointment only. Our lobby and conference room will be closed to the public at large for the immediate future. All staff will continue working regular business hours, whether in office, or remotely. If you do come to see us, we will have hand sanitizer for you to use and we strongly urge you to wear a face mask. I know, I don’t like them either. But I also don’t know if I’m asymptomatic and the last thing I want to do is make one of our staffers or our members sick. The masks aren’t to protect yourself, they are to protect others around you. Let’s all be as responsible as possible. Please be patient with businesses that are reopening. Because of the guidelines, service may be slower than you like and some locations may be understaffed. Just know that everyone is doing the best they can. Please stay safe and healthy. Remember, the Chamber of Commerce is here for you.
