The Chamber’s Board of Directors has selected Tom Kies to serve as the next Chamber President. He is currently serving as Executive Director of the Downtown Morehead City Revitalization Association (DMCRA).

Kies is expected to assume the role as Chamber President Monday, June 27. He will succeed Mike Wagoner, who is retiring this month.

“Tom has outstanding credentials and a superb track record for success,” said Chamber Board Chair Bucky Oliver. “Tom comes to us with wealth of knowledge about the workings of the Chamber as well as the culture of Carteret County. We are excited that he has accepted the Board’s offer to become President and CEO, and we look forward to a seamless transition.”

Kies served as Chair of the Chamber Board in 2011, and he has served continuously as a member of the Chamber Board since 2007. He is a graduate of Leadership Carteret 2007.

Prior to joining the DMCRA as its Executive Director in 2011, Kies served five years as Publisher and General Manager of NCCOAST Communications in Morehead City.

Kies has also served in volunteer leadership positions with the Crystal Coast Hospitality Association, the Carteret County Economic Development Council and the Lookout Rotary Club. He is a past Rotary president.
