Message from the Chair

Carteret County Strong

Christina Fulcher
2020-2021 Chair, Board of Directors

What an incredible journey our county has faced over the last 18 months, as we rebuilt and recovered from hurricanes Florence and Dorian. Our county’s community-oriented mentality supported us through such devastation of these storms, and is why Carteret County is consistently recognized as one of the most beautiful places with the friendliest people!

Like the people of our county, the members of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce embody this community-focused mindset. Together, we strive to promote our community and the businesses that make it such a desirable place to live and visit. We are a board of directors made up of a diverse group of people. From business owners to educators to CEO’s and beyond, our focus is to drive commerce and promote the community and businesses throughout Carteret County. Each and every day, we seek opportunities to promote new and existing businesses, foster relationships with our military partners, and strengthen our awareness and understanding of political issues with potential impact to county businesses.

When I was initially elected as the 2020-2021 Chair of the Board of Directors, it was important to me to continue the momentum of the leadership before me. The 2019 Chair, John Hagel, was a driving force to bring growth opportunities to our county. The 2020 Chair-Elect, Sandi Malone, was a vibrant staple in our arts programs. Unfortunately, Sandi passed away in early 2020 and the Board of Directors voted to split the 2020 chair position. For the first time, both John and I will each be serving 18-month terms. When I take the reins in July, my focus will remain on the economic growth of our community, while bringing awareness of the programs and initiatives to further engage our members in the success of Carteret County.

To continue our county’s trajectory of growth, we must be active members of our community. Whether that means volunteering with one of the incredible non-profits, participating in the Chamber’s Leadership Carteret program, attending a community fundraiser, or shopping and dining locally; we all must do our part to make Carteret County the best county in the state!

Since I became engaged in the Chamber in 2013, I have been enriched personally and professionally by the opportunities afforded to me by my experiences with the Chamber. I challenge all of you to maximize the value of your membership in the Chamber. Whether you attend a Business After Hours, host a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate your business, attend a Round Table meeting, recognize service members through our Military Affairs Committee, or purchase a ticket for the Annual Meeting and the Reverse Drawing, engage with the Chamber and show your support to your business and our community.

It is with great pride that I will serve our community as the July 2020 – December 2021 Chair of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and I look forward to what we can accomplish together!
